Square-Enix recently announced this week?that it will release the new Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn for the PC and PlayStation 3 console. Many of the?fans of the Final Fantasy franchise (some of us going as far back as the original NES version), were a little disappointed with the multiplayer game ?Final Fantasy XIV?, when it was released originally in September of 2010. ?Square Enix has recently announced some changes made for what some people were calling ?Final Fantasy XIV-2?. Let?s take a quick look.
The sequel planned takes notice of the various problems and complaints that gamers had with the original ?XIV?. Square Enix is very aware of the popularity of the franchise and wants to make its devoted fans happy. In a press release, game producer and director Naoki Yoshida had this to say: ?Since announcing our plans for the future of the title last October, we have been working tirelessly to include all of the elements that we have promised in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. This new title not only becomes a symbol of a completely new Final Fantasy XIV, but also marks the beginning of a new stage as the latest title in the Final Fantasy series. I hope you?re looking forward to it!?
The word on the street is that the game has recieved a complete overhaul when compared with the original Final Fantasy XIV. Along with a new graphics engine to take full advantage of the PC and Playstation 3, other features like redesigned map structures, a redone game interface, new servers, and other various gameplay variations, including the ability to play as new characters of individual races.
Square Enix has stated that the game is scheduled to be released sometime in either the last quarter of 2012, or the first quarter of 2013. A website has been created at http://www.finalfantasyxiv.com/. More information to follow.
