SYLVESTER, GA --
The Worth County Board of Commissioners met Thursday morning to announce their decision regarding the contract length for?Best Friends Humane Society.
Best Friends Humane Society has always had a three year contract, but a few weeks ago, the commissioners decided to review that and possibly change it to a one year contract.
Thursday, the board made a final decision to, in fact, change the length to one year.
Shelter?Director Shelly McPhaul said she understands the decision but is worried about how it will affect the shelter. The new contract length means they will have to spend a lot more time on the budget, whereas before, they only had to present it to the board once every three years. McPhaul said this is something that takes a lot of time, and with limited staff, she hopes it won't interfere with their day-to-day upkeep of the animals and shelter.
